How to Take Care of Your Sunglasses

We all know that wearing sunglasses is cool—just think of Ryan Gosling or Tom Cruise. Sunglasses are not just a fashion accessory but a necessity throughout the year.

Here are a few benefits of wearing sunglasses:

1. Protect your eyes from the sun’s Ultraviolet (UV) rays. Remember to buy sunglasses that block 100% UV.
2. Guard your eyes from UV damage that can create future problems such as macular degeneration and cataracts.
3. Shield your eyes from debris like dirt or sand whether taking a walk or driving with the top down.
4. Help reduce eye strain when squinting and save your eyes from straining and tearing.
5. Protect the delicate skin around the eyes to help prevent wrinkles and premature aging caused by UV rays.
6. Protect your eyes in the winter months from UV rays.

And the following are some tips of how to take care of your sunglasses:

1. Don’t wear your sunglasses on top of your head. Because the screws holding up your sunglasses will loosen and potentially fall off.
2. Always use both hands to put on and remove your sunglasses. Using one hand could loosen the screws or misalign the frame over time.
3. Don’t stretch or bend the arms or temples when putting on or removing your sunglasses.
4. To keep your sunglasses clean, use a lint-free microfiber cloth and avoid paper towels or tissues.
5. If the lenses of your sunglasses are particularly dirty, wash them properly with lukewarm water and a non-oily liquid soap. Make sure to rinse thoroughly and carefully dry the lenses and the frame with a clean, soft cloth. You can also use a cleaning spray for eyeglasses.
6. Avoid exposing your sunglasses to excessive heat, as the heat can distort the frames. Therefore, never leave your sunglasses in the car during the day.
7. When you’re not wearing your sunglasses store them in an eyeglass case to protect them from dust.
