Il Marchesato was founded in 1978 and is family-run. 

Il Marchesato luxury umbrellas are hand made by skilled artisans. Made with high-quality fabrics and materials, each umbrella is constructed and tested by a family member. Local artists are also hired to paint the decorative porcelain handles.

Il Marchesato is located in the town of Saluzzo, in the province of Cuneo, in the Piedmont region of northern Italy.
