Tips on Wearing Men’s Jewellery

What I love most about men’s accessories and jewellery is that adding an accessory or piece of jewellery can completely change the look of your outfit whether you’re dressing for 9 to 5 or social events. And I believe that today men have more selection than ever before!

I’ve put together a few style tips on wearing jewellery. As a refresher on what accessories to wear read http://gentiluomo.ca/accessorize/.

Tie clip – a tie clip can add a nice touch to your tie and can be worn to work or social events. Its function is simply to pin your tie to your shirt. A tie clip is worn between the third and fourth buttons of your shirt. And remember never wear a tie clip that’s wider than your tie. A simple tie clip in silver or gold is best, and you can match the metal colour to your cufflinks, watch or belt buckle.

Cufflinks – cufflinks are worn with French cuff shirts. They fasten the cuffs of a shirt in lieu of buttons. I have some customers who only wear French cuff shirts so they can wear cufflinks! Cufflinks can be worn for business or social events. Cufflinks are made from a wide range of material from gold to precious stones and they come in different shapes and motifs. The best style rule for wearing cufflinks is to be complementary to your outfit. For example, if you’re in a formal tuxedo don’t wear skull cufflinks. And although some men do prefer to match the metal colour of their cufflinks to their watch or belt buckle, today it’s appropriate to mix metal colours but do keep it simple. On the other hand, if you’re wearing coloured cufflinks, it’s best to match the cufflinks to a colour in your tie or shirt.

Bracelet – with today’s variety of bracelets from metal to leather men have many options on wrist wear.  You can layer leather bracelets but don’t wear too many at the same time. For metal bracelets, keep it simple and wear a single bracelet but match the metal to your watch or belt buckle. You can also pair a leather bracelet with a watch but make sure they complement each other. And don’t forget to have some fun by adding colour like a red leather bracelet. We also carry a great line of woven nylon bracelets that are colourful and fun for your more casual days.

Watch – watches are the staple of men’s jewelry and today there are various styles of watches available from dress to sports. Some style tips to keep in mind. The simpler the watch the more appropriate it is for all occasions. A metal band is generally suitable for casual wear while a leather band is proper for business or social occasions. You should avoid wearing a sports watch when you’re wearing a suit. As for matching, match the metal of a watch case to your belt buckle, wedding ring or cufflinks, and match the leather of the band to your belt or shoes.

And speaking of watches, we are very excited to announce the newest addition to our product offerings – Mondia watches.
