Montegrappa Pens

“The pen is mightier than the keyboard.”

In today’s age of smartphones and texting, some say that the art of handwriting has died but I disagree. Sending someone a handwritten thank-you note or a birthday card, which I do very often rather than a simple text or email (even with emojis added) will show that you really took the time to acknowledge the person and that will go a long way in your relationship.

Let’s not forget that the greatest literary works to date were written with pen to paper. And the most important documents in history were signed with a pen.

I am so thrilled that we have started carrying the Montegrappa line of pens. The company Montegrappa is located in Bassano del Grappa, Italy which is in the Vicenza province in northern Italy. Montegrappa has been crafting world-class writing instruments since 1912! To capture the feel for the company watch this short video.

The artisans that work at Montegrappa are so passionate about their craft. They treat each design as a work of art, handcrafting each pen as if it were an original. Royalty, celebrities, politicians and dignitaries from around the globe are proud owners of Montegrappa pens. In fact, the company is known for creating special edition pens in honour of significant people such as soccer player Pelé, actress Sophia Loren, music producer Quincy Jones, and singer Frank Sinatra, just to name a few. And, Sylvester Stallone so loved the company, he’s on the board of directors!

One of the reasons Gentil Uomo started carrying Montegrappa pens is that often times people come into the shop and they’re not sure what to buy for a birthday, graduation or promotion especially when the person has everything. I believe gifting a Montegrappa pen will make a statement and the recipient will be proud to own a Montegrappa pen. Alla prossima – until next time. Arrivederci.
